The Esthetician's Role in Acne Care Just Got More Important

With a former prescription acne gel now sold over the counter, more clients will walk into treatment rooms already using a retinoid and benzoyl peroxide. They'll also be dry, irritated, and unsure what to do next. On this week's Facially Conscious, I talked with Dr. Vicki about how I work alongside dermatologists. That means doing extractions, managing inflammation, and knowing exactly when to refer a client out for Accutane or spironolactone. We also covered how to evaluate devices like the $900-a-session acne lasers and viral tools like K1-Jet before you bring them into a practice. At Esthetic Concierge, this is what I train estheticians, med spas, and medical practices to do: build an acne protocol where the doctor and the esthetician work as one team.
